Using the booklet.
Step 1. Make and assemble as many copies of the booklet as you need.
Step 2. Invite people to complete the spiritual gifts survey (pages 1 & 2).
Step 3. Have people review the spiritual gift descriptions (page樂威壯
s 3 to 7) and discuss their meaning.
Step 4. Have people fill out the “Opportunities for Ministry” form (page 8).
Step 5. Pastor and program staff can use the “Opportunities for Ministry” form in choosing and mobilizing the people for the work of ministry. (Ephesians 4:11-12)
Some notes of Explanation
1). As a theologically Wesleyan Arminian I have designed this booklet from a Methodist point of view.
2). I have listed 15 of the more common spiritual gifts generally known as the “service gifts”.
The gifts included are (in alphabetical order) Administration, Evangelism, Exhortation, Faith, Giving, Healing, Helps, Knowledge, Leadership, Mercy, Prophecy, Service, Shepherd, Teaching, Wisdom.
3). I have excluded some of the more controversial spiritual gifts such as miracles, tongues and interpretation of tongues, (often called the “miraculous gifts”). I would note that some would include healing, knowledge, and prophecy in this group. I would also note that Wesleyan Aminians (Methodists) accept the miraculous gifts as genuine. I would also note that all spiritual gifts are miraculous in the sense that they come by the filling of the Holy Spirit.
At some future point I hope to complete a book on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and include a survey and definition of all the the gifts (including the miraculous gifts).
